Sierra Harris, RVT

RVT

I earned my Veterinary Technician diploma from St. Clair College and also hold a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with a specialization in Zoology from Laurentian University.

From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for animals and wildlife, and my interest in veterinary medicine grew from my desire to help them, whether through conservation or medical care. After spending time working in conservation, I realized I wanted more hands-on experience in the medical field, which led me to become an RVT.

My main interest lies in working with exotic animals, and I’ve had the privilege of doing so in a specialty and referral setting. I also love the fast-paced nature of emergency medicine and the challenge of stabilizing critical patients, especially when it involves anesthesia during emergency surgeries. Seeing the transformation of a patient from critical condition to recovery, and then witnessing the joy of their reunion with their owner, is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

When I’m not working, I enjoy caring for my own little zoo at home, which includes three cats (two domestic medium hairs and a domestic shorthair) and a Super Dalmatian Crested Gecko.

Fun Fact! Before my veterinary career, I was involved in bumblebee conservation and even worked a bit with bats.
