A healthier life for your pet can be as simple as protecting them against parasites. If left untreated, parasites can cause serious damage to your pet’s health and could even be fatal. When you deworm your pet, you build up their immune system and give them the fighting power to ward off harmful pests and diseases. Why is deworming my pet important?
When it comes to taking care of your pet’s overall health, deworming should be at the top of your To-Do List. Pets can contract pests and harmful diseases from anywhere, even if they stay indoors. They can also spread them just as easily as they contract them. This is why we recommend staying on top of your pet’s routine check-ups and parasite prevention plans. Puppies and kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks until they are 3-months-old. As they grow older, our veterinarians will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your pet’s unique risks and medical needs.
How do I know if my pet needs to be dewormed?
It can be difficult to tell if your pet has been infected. Some pets show no symptoms, while others are better at hiding their pain. The best way to know is to bring them in for their regular checkups so we can prevent or treat any symptoms they may be experiencing. Some signs to look out for include:
- Bloody or soft stool
- Stomach bloating
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
